The Candy Dish

Don't you just love a candy dish? It takes a special kind of person to keep candy stocked for others to enjoy. Over the years, grandparents, librarians, secretaries and other generous people have taken it on themselves to provide a little "pick me up" in a "nothing is free" world by stocking a candy dish.

Of course, there's no such thing as free candy. Someone's paying for it. More than once, I've seen candy dish hosts give out so many treats that they have no option but to put out a polite note that says, donate now"If you enjoy the candy, please leave some change to help keep it stocked." The contributions these signs inspire never quite cover the cost, but they do seem to give those who regularly enjoy the candy a sense of ownership and participation.

For eight years, Boundless has given out some high quality "candy" -- strong journalism and cutting-edge design created to embolden hearts and minds. We've done it gladly, for your enjoyment, and it's been our privilege to hear back from you whenever you were encouraged or challenged by what you found in the dish that week.

But Boundless has never been free. A generous donor made the site possible at the beginning and many small gifts since then have kept it going. And that's why there's nothing out there quite like Boundless. While other Webzines have had to resort to selling their content, loading their sites up with ads or pushing lots of products, we've been able to stay focused on just giving away great reads.

As you may have noticed, we've never asked our target audience to chip in anything because we know many of our readers still eat ramen noodles and have plywood and cinder blocks for entertainment centers.

Now we wonder if any of our readers have gotten over the hump and actually moved into better situations -- with the means to help someone else toiling through the hungry years.

Any size gift would be valued. Small gifts really add up when you use our handy features for automatic monthly deposits. Just think what a few skipped lattes could amount to.

Would you consider chipping in some change to support the Boundless candy dish?
