Alone … and Finding Joy
Although singleness can feel lonely, you can still find joy in God.
When after our first date Tom emailed me with, “I do hope for an opportunity to prayerfully pursue you, should you wish to be pursued,” my jaw dropped.
It took getting married to make me realize how much hassle it is to get a new name. All the effort must mean one thing: What I’m trying to do is a big deal.
Why don’t my fiancé and I live together? It’s not because it doesn’t sound fun, or because we are old-fashioned or don’t face temptation.
My aching for my friends to have what I’ve been given freely has taught me more about the heart of God, who aches for us.
“Woe to the man who did not see the goodness of your labors. For greater is the lone woman who is faithful than the woman joined by a man who is idle.”
We should often examine our own thinking: Where are we accepting a false ideal? Where are we passing judgments when we should be offering grace?
I have been earnestly focused on a single star, while He patiently gestures to the galaxy.
