We have entered into a new age of the internet: The age of the guru. More and more people are aiming to become “experts” whose opinions and experiences simply need to be shared and heard. I’ve been tempted to hop on this bandwagon myself. But maybe those seeking to become gurus don’t have the best motives at heart.
Recently two major musicians made interesting changes to their musical careers. Underoath has announced they’re no longer writing music under a Christian label, and Jonathan Thulin’s recent music seems to stray from his spiritual roots. I think this may serve as an important wake-up call for us believers.
I’ve lived in Kansas most of my life. Yes, to most of the world, my home state is one you typically drive through and fly over. I remember kind of despising my hometown of Wichita growing up. But now I have a large sense of pride for my home state.
Unlike most other “bad guys” fighting for wealth, power or fame, this character actually fights for worthy causes — he just does it the wrong way.
Jesus could have come back to the disciples earlier. But He didn’t. Eventually Thomas would get the proof he needed to believe, but he had to wait.
When we see these creative moments in “The Greatest Showman,” it’s easy to look at our lives with our seemingly mundane skills and find ourselves lacking.
One fun list that comes out every year is Google’s “Year in Search,” which highlights the most popular Google searches of the year.
Making peace is a verb. Peacemaking requires action. We have God’s peace within us, but we still live in a world where making peace requires effort.
