Hi. I’m Emma, and I am not a fan of online dating. (In fact, Lisa Anderson calls me a hater.) My dislike of it has several roots. Personally, it’s not something I’ve ever considered as an option. My aversion comes mostly from the stories I’ve heard from friends. These stories range from hilarious to terrifying. Suffice it to say, with only two couples I know having successful results from online dating, I’ve been a bit (read: a lot) gun shy.
However, I also appreciate it when I’m offered the chance to challenge perceptions I hold dear.
Lisa and Martha approached me to become a part of the blogging team on Boundless with this project: Join ChristianCafe.com and blog about the process. The intent is to offer a fresh perspecitive since I am new to online dating. But I want this to be about more than just online dating. The extrovert inside me looks forward to meeting new people, hearing stories and being open to what Jesus has for me.
That being said, I know you all don’t know me from … Eve. So here are some random facts. I love Jesus, people and coffee. A life goal is to take my love of travel and writing, and combine them into some sort of sustainable income. I also enjoy autumn, singing really loud in my car and people-watching. I’ll eat almost anything at least once.
Personal quirks aside, I want to chat a bit about this journey. I take marriage and my wanting it to be a reality in my life seriously. I am approaching this with an open heart before the Lord, asking Him to lead me.
So I hope you’ll come along with me for the ride. I have no clue what Jesus will do, but I know I’m sure to have some fun and interesting experiences. I’d also love to hear your thoughts. If you’ve dated online, do you have any tips or advice? Anything I should expect?
