I quit my job three weeks ago. But I didn’t feel elated like I had expected. Instead of looking forward to this big change, I began to dread the end.
Armed with self-help books and a to-do list, I feel convinced I can make myself better. But things never work out quite like I expect, and I have yet to meet my own goals and expectations. But as small tomato seedlings show us, growth takes time.
Maybe the differences between you and others in your church aren’t particularly obvious (or maybe they are!), but you’re bonded together now as the people of God (1 Peter 2:9-10). This one thing — even if it’s the only thing we have in common — makes the church a family.
