Mandisa Gets Real

Guests: Mandisa,

14:12 –

I love me some Mandisa! Ever since she climbed to the top 10 on American Idol five years ago, I’ve been a fan. Her album True Beauty is on my running playlist. Now she’s back with What If We Were Real, a celebration of her recent journey that includes everything from an over 115-pound weight loss to a new musical sound. She and I get real as we talk about body image, praying for a great guy and maturing through life’s ups and downs. Oh, and I shamelessly audition for her as a backup rapper. I had to strike while the iron was hot, folks. I’ll be touring with her soon, I’m sure.

She and her boyfriend have a great relationship, but there’s one thing she can’t get over. Her bf told her that when they first met, he wasn’t attracted to her. She’s struggled with self-esteem her whole life, so even though her guy is in love with her now, she’s having a hard time trusting his attachment to her. What can she do to get past her fear that she doesn’t measure up? Counselor Sandy Janzen offers some great help for this discouraged listener.
