A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend an early screening of the Justin Bieber movie, Never Say Never. Going into the theater, all I knew of Justin was that tween girls want to marry him and that YouTube somehow helped kick-start his career. But when leaving the theater, I had caught a slight “fever.” This documentary-style film about a 16-year-old pop star was actually entertaining and informative. Plus, it got me thinking about the nature of celebrity crushes. Why do people have them, and what impact do they have on our perspective of reality?
