I’ve lived in Kansas most of my life. Yes, to most of the world, my home state is one you typically drive through and fly over. I remember kind of despising my hometown of Wichita growing up. But now I have a large sense of pride for my home state.
What if we lived in a country where attacks on churches were common and even encouraged? Or a nation that gave its approval to church violence?
If a kooky mom from Indiana can save Will Byers from Demogorgons, surely we can at least make a dent in the issues hitting our headlines today.
Most adults live ordinary lives. Why do we tend to doubt, downplay or despise the average story?
Overseas is where some people are called to be, but perhaps it’s not where most of us are needed.
Maybe you don’t feel equipped to serve God without some huge purpose. Maybe you feel guilty because you’re not doing enough “good.”
I swatted away the uncomfortable idea that the children who lived at the home had likely been taken from their families — possibly in a traumatic way.
